Here is the next photo challenge for you to guess, can you name the town where this was taken? As usual, clicking on the photo to enlarge it may help provide some clues. Good luck!
Hi Muriel, correct, this is Herceg Novi! Do you recognize this church or was it a process of elimination of Montenegrin towns? :) Congrats on your win! The next photo challenge will be up next week.
In a few weeks we will be staying at a rental across the straight from Herceg Novi and have been familiarizing myself with the area. So I made a guess, checked Google Images and there it was!
In Sept we fly to Zagreb, then head south to Albania, then to the rental for a week and back up the coast to Zagreb to fly out. So I have been using your site for tips on places to visit.
Thanks Muriel, I'm always glad to hear that people find the site useful. Where will you go in Albania? I particularly like the historic towns of Berat and Gjirokastra, I have photos and info for both places, I just need to get around to posting them on here. Have a great trip!
We plan to rent a car in Tirana and head south, visiting both Gjirokastra and Berat. I thought I read about them here but perhaps its was elsewhere. I see you also like Kruja. I will keep an eye on your blog, in case you get the info about Gjirokastra and Berat posted before we go.
I know how much work a blog is, as I try to do one on my travels. I am way way behind!
Hi Muriel, I'll try to get a post about Berat up in the next week or two, I have the photos chosen and the text for it started. Be prepared for difficult driving conditions in Albania, the roads are poor and the drivers have a very different approach to the rules of the road. Have you driven a vehicle in the Balkans before? I find driving in those countries quite stressful and usually stick to public transport.
We will not be going to the south of Albania afterall, as our son cannot get extra time off work in Budapest.
So my husband and I will only go to Tirana then to Prizen and Serbia. Our son was just in Nis Serbia and thought it was very nice. He also said that Uzice has nice villages close by.
We will travel by bus or whatever means of transport is best for each stage.
The south of Albania, plus the north of Greece, plus Macedonia will be another trip.
Could I be so bold as to suggest that your headlines would look a little nicer if you downsized them a bit? Sorry, I do websites for people, so I may be over-sensitive to such things. If you need any help, feel free to ask!
Hi Muriel, how was your trip around the Balkans? Did you get to Prizren? I'd be happy to hear all about it. I've been busy travelling for most of the summer (Newfoundland, Finland, Ukraine) and haven't had any time to attend to this site, but I'm back in Prague now and can give it proper attention. Cheers for the heads-up on the headlines size, they were a tad large, I've reduced the size a few notches.
Kotor, MNE is my guess!
ReplyDeleteA good guess, you're very close, but this isn't Kotor...
ReplyDeleteBudva?
ReplyDeleteHi Florian,
ReplyDeleteBudva and Kotor are both nearby, but it's a different town on the Montenegrin coast...
Herceg Novi!!
